Reverends

Reverend Cheryl Alston is a native New Yorker. She attended Erasmus Hall High School and after graduation, she attended the New York City Technical College and Brooklyn College. She studied Human Services with an interest in Gerontology. She also attended seminary school in New York City.


Cheryl worked for the Department of Social Services where she was a center-based trainer. She trained a staff of 188 on Old and New Procedures. She also was a check fraud auditor for many years in Social Services. She later became an administrator supervising 12 supervisors who supervised six workers each who were all under her supervision. She made final decisions on their cases and the handling of those cases.


Reverend Alston was also a part of African American Women for Societal Change at the Gay and Lesbian center in New York City. She became a member of Unity Fellowship Church, Brooklyn under Rev. Z. Jones in 1995 and after completing classes she became an Ordained Deacon in 1996 and went on to become an Ordained Minister in 1999.


Prior to attending Unity Fellowship Church, she was a member of Calvary Church in Brooklyn under Elder Clenso Allen. She served as a Deaconess, Sunday School Teacher, Youth Leader, Mass Choir, and Missionary Board and taught vacation bible school.


After working 30 years for the Department of Social Services Cheryl retired and with her wife, Emily moved to Baltimore to be close to their daughters and granddaughter. She is now a member of the Unity Fellowship Church of Baltimore under Elder Harris Thomas where she oversees the women’s ministry, the fundraising committee and dance ministry. Rev. Alston is in the masters program getting a double masters, one in Divinity and the other a master in Christian Counseling. She will have her first masters in Divinity in December 2012.

Reverend Sam Offer serves as Vice President and consultant with the Washington Consulting Group, a Multicultural Organizational Development Firm, out of Baltimore, MD. Rev. Offer has served as an educator and administrator in education for over 25 years.


A native Marylander, Rev. Offer earned his B.S. from Calvary Christian College with a concentration in Early Childhood Studies. Other studies include Sexuality, Religious and Spiritual Pluralism, Religious Issues within the LGBTQ community (particularly through a Christian lens), and Social Justice. Rev. Offer is an alumnus of Landmark Education and the Social Justice Training Institute. He serves as a lead trainer for LeaderShape, Inc., and lead faculty for the Social Justice Training Institute: The Student Experience. He has spent many years working with the development of youth and young adults in education and within the community. Rev. Offer is a member of Maryland Black Family Alliance and is an advisor to Pride and Faith, organizations advocating equity of all people. Rev. Offer is co-chair of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force premier conference, Creating Change 2012. He is also state chair for African American Clergy and People of Faith with Marylanders for Equality.


As a motivational speaker, Rev. Offer travels the world advocating social justice and equity for all humanity. He is known for his witty personality, style and love for the work he does.


His work includes developing presentations and workshops for colleges, universities and business organizations; developing and implementing curriculum for local religious and community organizations for engaging social justice issues; developing and implementing curriculum for engaging spirituality and religion in the workplace; facilitating group sessions and trainings on topics including leadership, change management and social justice; and providing staff support for team development and effectiveness.


He has served in music ministry for more than 40 years and currently serves as Minister of Community Relations and Outreach for Unity Fellowship Church, Baltimore, and is an ordained reverend in the Unity Fellowship Church Movement.


Rev. Offer is a consultant, facilitator and trainer on Diversity, Multiculturalism, Religion, Leadership, and Community Development issues. He has a way of engaging participants that will foster effective change in both their personal and organizational lives.


Rev. Offer shares his life with his son, two daughters, and his three grandchildren. He has a Jack Russell Terrier, Taurus, and lives a fulfilled life with his beloved partner, Rev. Dr. Jamie Washington.

Reverend Carla Johnson is a native of Baltimore. She was educated through the Baltimore City Public School system. After graduating from high school, she selected a professional career in the IT field and is presently the owner of Johnson Solutions.


Raised in the Baptist faith, Reverend Johnson grew spiritually and realized that God had a calling for her to enter the ministry. Active in the church at an early age she became the director of the youth ministry at the age of 13. Eventually, through her spiritual growth and constant communion with God, she came to Unity Fellowship Church of Baltimore (UFCB). Reverend Johnson joined UFCB at the age of 23 and after worshipping for some time, she put in her letter of intent to join the ministry.


Reverend Johnson worked hard and was an essential resource with the birth of Unity Fellowship Church of Columbia. Currently, she leads the Praise and Worship ministry, is a member of the spiritual development team, and works closely with the outreach and community relations team. Additionally, she strives to work with the homeless community in the City of Baltimore. This is a cause that is near and dear to her heart.
